Detox Your Home - permanent facilities

A number of permanent household chemical disposal facilities are available across Victoria.

Items accepted by permanent collection facilities

Permanent facilities only accept a limited range of household chemicals products, such as:

• paint
• motor oil
• BBQ gas cylinders (up to 9 kg)
• car batteries
• household batteries
• fluorescent tubes and compact fluorescent globes (CFLs).

You can take as many of these products as you need to, however these sites do NOT accept:

• containers larger than 20 litres
• LPG gas automotive fuel tanks
• chemicals used for commercial and industrial purposes
• household chemicals not listed above.

Councils who manage the permanent locations listed below can confirm the range of chemical products accepted, opening hours and if any fees apply.

Businesses of any sort are ineligible to use the service and should instead contact a chemical waste disposal service provider (download list below or look in the Yellow Pages).
