Saving water and teaching by example
Join the Schools Water Efficiency Program
The Schools Water Efficiency Program (SWEP) identifies simple solutions to water conservation, with no upfront costs and potential savings of 5 - 30%. Your school can set a valuable example to students and the local community and show that saving water is an important every day activity.
Visit the Our Water Our Future website (see link below) for details.
Prepare your waterMAP
If your school uses over 10 megalitres of water per year, it must be involved with the Victorian Government's WaterMAP program. A 'waterMAP' is a plan to use water more efficiently by identifying specific water saving actions for your site.
See links below or contact your local water retailer for more information.
Use the Waterwatch resources
Take advantage of a range of resources about water and the environment at Waterwatch. Get involved in sustainable water management issues including protecting the health of local waterways.
Visit the Waterwatch website (see link below) for more information.
Find your local water authority
The Department of Sustainability and Environment website (see link below) has a comprehensive list of links to metropolitan and regional water authority websites.
Water - Learn it! Live it!
The Water - Learn it! Live it! program helps schools actively implement water conservation and water education across the curriculum, with the aim of making a positive change in students' and teachers' knowledge, attitudes and behaviour towards water.
