ResourceSmart Schools - Waste program

Become a ResourceSmart School

ResourceSmart Schools - Waste will take schools to the next level with new innovations to help schools reduce, reuse and recycle waste. The ResourceSmart Schools scheme replaces the existing Waste Wise and AuSSI Vic schemes.

A waste management plan in your school will reduce litter, waste and associated disposal costs in your school while creating worthwhile learning opportunities for students.

The expanded ResourceSmart Schools - Waste program will integrate thoroughly with AuSSI Vic to engage that whole school community.  All the fantastic efforts of schools to date will be incorporated into this comprehensive program.

CERES is leading a consortium of partners in the delivery of this program during 2008.

Move across from Waste Wise Certification

Support and information for schools is available from Waste Management Groups' Regional Education Officers. These officers will also guide schools through the new AuSSI Vic Waste module for becoming ResourceSmart.

Waste Wise certification will remain available until the new system and process for certification has been finalised.  If your school has a current Waste Wise certification, your certification will remain valid until its expiry two years after the date of issue.

If your school is currently working on a Waste Wise action plan, your Regional Education Officer (based in your local Waste Management Group) can advise you on Waste Wise certification during the transition period. Contact details for Regional Education Officers can be found on the Regional Waste Management Groups page on this website (see link below).
