2009 ResourceSmart Schools Awards
The awards recognise and reward Victorian schools, students and teachers for their initiatives and achievements in resource management; biodiversity, energy, waste and water.
Twenty nine primary and secondary schools entered this year's awards. Winning cash and prizes to the value of $35,000 to assist sustainability projects, winners and finalists also had the opportunity to present at the Kids Teaching Kids Awards Ceremony held on 18 November 2009.
Hon. Minister for Environment and Climate Change, Gavin Jennings MLC attended the ceremony presenting the ResourceSmart School of Year Award to Balnarring Primary School.
Balnarring Primary School will be recognised at the 2010 Premier's Sustainability Awards in April.
Congratulations to all schools that participated in the ResourceSmart Schools Award this year.

2009 Rubbish Free Lunch Challenge
The Rubbish Free Lunch Challenge rewards students and teachers from schools across Victoria that work hard to reduce the amount of waste produced on a daily basis at school.
With a prize pool of over $12,000 winning schools won cash and prizes to assist with their ongoing efforts to reduce waste at their school.
All finalists attended the Kids Teaching Kids Awards Ceremony held this year in conjunction with the ResourceSmart School of the Year Awards.
