Make your workplace water smart

Water saving has become an important part of life for many Victorian households. Bring the same common-sense approach to the workplace and you can reduce water consumption even further.

Get a high quality fit-out

Work with the owners of your building to ensure the fit-out is best practice, including the use of dual flush toilets and flow controllers on taps.

Cut down everyday water use

  • Make sure you turn taps off completely.
  • Report leaking taps or other plumbing issues promptly.
  • Re-use extra drinking water after a meeting to water the plants.

Use the dishwasher efficiently

  • Only run the dishwasher when it is full.
  • Use the economy cycle
  • When purchasing a new dishwasher, get one with at least a 3.5 star energy and water rating - every extra star can reduce running costs by around 30%.

Be sparing with hot water

  • Use a zip or water heater that is water and energy efficient.
  • The less hot water you use, the less you have to heat up and the more you save on your energy bills.

Communicate with your staff

Start an awareness campaign among staff to let them know where and when they can save water.
