Renewable Energy Water Pumping (REWP) rebates

The Renewable Remote Power Generation Program is closed to new applications in Victoria.

As of 8.30 am Australian Eastern Standard Time on Monday 22 June 2009, pre-purchase applications are no longer being accepted for the Renewable Remote Power Generation Program.

All pre-purchase applications submitted to Sustainability Victoria prior to this will be assessed according to the program guidelines.

Please note this only affects pre-purchase applications. The deadline for rebate applications is provided on your pre-purchase approval letter.

Renewable energy water pumping system rebate

Get a rebate to help install your renewable energy water pumping system through the Renewable Energy Water Pumping sub-program of the Renewable Remote Power Generation Program. The Renewable Remote Power Generation Program is an Australian Government funded initiative.

The rebate program aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through the reduction of diesel fuel use. Rebates are given when renewable energy systems are used instead of diesel engines to pump water.

Eligibility

Rebates are available to business, government and other incorporated organisations that are more than one kilometre from the nearest main electricity grid.

The rebate is only available to pre-purchase applicants. It must be approved by Sustainability Victoria before you purchase and install a renewable energy water pumping system.

Application process

1. Read the Renewable Energy Water Pumping Guidelines and determine whether you are eligible for a rebate.
2. Contact a suitable supplier and obtain quotes for your proposed renewable energy water pumping system. It is recommended that more than one quote be obtained.
3. Submit a Renewable Energy Water Pumping Pre-purchase Application Form to Sustainability Victoria for approval with all required attachments prior to purchasing any equipment.
4. Applications will be assessed by the Sustainability Victoria and approved if all requirements are met.
5. If the application is approved, the specified equipment can then be purchased and installed.
6. After the system has been installed, submit a Renewable Energy Water Pumping Rebate Application Form to Sustainability Victoria with all required attachments.
7. Given that all requirements of the program are met, the rebate will then be paid to the applicant.
