Life cycle thinking about plastics: design for sustainability

Design for sustainability (D4S) for plastics is a joint initiative of Sustainability Victoria and the Plastics and Chemicals Industries Association (PACIA) to encourage the development of plastic products that have minimal adverse environmental and social impacts over their total life cycle, and which contribute in a positive way to sustainable development.

The first stage of the program is the development of 12 Design for sustainability (D4S) Quickstarts for plastics to provide advice and strategies to assist practitioners at every stage of a plastic product's life, including designers, raw material suppliers, manufacturers, brand owners, specifiers, end users and recyclers.
